Loubane offers ecommerce website development in Montreal for merchants, retailers and brands that want to sell online with a store that is easy to manage, fast on mobile and set up properly for Canadian customers. We build online stores on Shopify and WooCommerce for businesses in Montreal, across Quebec and throughout Canada, and we take care of the details that often slow merchants down: product setup, payments, shipping rules and GST, QST and HST configuration.

Whether you are opening your first online store, adding e-commerce to an existing business website or moving away from a platform that no longer fits, our goal is the same: a store that makes buying simple for your customers and running the business simple for you.

What’s included in our e-commerce development service

Each online store is built around your products and your way of working. A typical Loubane e-commerce project includes:

  • Platform recommendation: Shopify, WooCommerce on WordPress, or another approach, based on your catalogue, budget and growth plans.
  • Custom store design that reflects your brand and puts your products front and centre.
  • Mobile-first, responsive layout for a smooth shopping experience on phones and tablets.
  • Product catalogue setup: categories, product pages, variants (sizes, colours), photos and descriptions.
  • Payment gateway configuration so customers can pay securely by card and other common methods supported by your platform.
  • Canadian sales tax setup: GST, QST and HST settings configured according to the information you and your accountant provide.
  • Canadian shipping setup: shipping zones, rates, free-shipping thresholds and local pickup or delivery options.
  • Bilingual store in English and French, with Spanish or Arabic available if you sell to those communities.
  • E-commerce SEO foundations: optimized product and category pages, clean URLs, meta data and structured internal linking.
  • Essential pages: shipping, returns, privacy policy and contact pages, ready for your own policy content.
  • Training so you can add products, manage orders and update content yourself.

GST, QST and HST: getting Canadian sales tax right in your online store

Sales tax is one of the most common sources of confusion for Canadian online merchants. Here is the general picture, to help you understand what your store needs to handle:

  • GST/HST registration: in general, a business must register for GST/HST once its taxable sales exceed the federal small supplier threshold of $30,000 over four consecutive calendar quarters or in a single quarter. Online sales count toward that total. Some businesses also choose to register voluntarily.
  • The customer’s location matters: for most goods shipped within Canada, the tax that applies generally depends on where the order is delivered, not only on where your business is located. That means a Quebec store shipping to Ontario or the Atlantic provinces may need to charge HST, while orders delivered in provinces such as Alberta generally carry GST only.
  • Quebec Sales Tax (QST): QST is administered by Revenu Québec and has its own registration and filing rules. Businesses outside Quebec that sell to Quebec consumers may also have obligations under Quebec’s specified QST system.
  • Provincial sales taxes: some provinces, such as British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, apply their own separate provincial sales tax with their own rules for out-of-province sellers.

Shopify and WooCommerce can calculate taxes automatically once they are configured correctly, and we set up those rules carefully in your store. However, your registration status, which taxes you must collect and how you remit them are tax decisions specific to your business. We always recommend confirming your obligations with an accountant or with the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec before launch. We then configure your store to match.

How we work: our e-commerce process

  1. Discovery. We talk by phone, WhatsApp or email about your products, your customers, where you ship and how you manage inventory today.
  2. Platform choice and planning. We recommend Shopify or WooCommerce based on your needs, then plan your store structure, categories and key pages. Our article on WordPress vs Shopify explains the main differences.
  3. Design. We design your homepage, category pages and product pages, and you review them before development.
  4. Store build. We set up the platform, theme, products, payments, shipping zones and tax settings, and we connect the tools you need.
  5. Testing. We place test orders, check taxes and shipping calculations for different provinces, verify emails and test the checkout on mobile and desktop.
  6. Launch. We connect your domain, submit your store to Google Search Console and make sure everything is live and working.
  7. Growth and support. After launch, we can help you attract more buyers through SEO and advertising, and keep your store updated and secure.

Why choose Loubane for your online store

Local Montreal agency

We are a Montreal web agency, so we understand how Quebec shoppers buy online and what Canadian merchants deal with day to day, from bilingual product pages to shipping across a very large country.

Shopify and WooCommerce expertise

We work with both leading platforms. Shopify is a hosted, all-in-one solution that many merchants find simple to run. WooCommerce runs on WordPress and gives you more control and flexibility. We help you choose based on your situation, not on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Bilingual and multilingual stores

Selling in Quebec usually means selling in French, and many stores also target English-speaking customers in Canada and beyond. We build stores in English and French, and we can add Spanish or Arabic through our multilingual websites service.

Direct contact

You can reach us directly by phone or WhatsApp at 438-933-7601. When something needs to be fixed or changed in your store, you talk to the people who built it.

SEO built into every store

An online store needs traffic to generate sales. We structure product and category pages so search engines can understand them, and we can help you go further with our SEO services. We do not promise specific rankings, but we make sure your store starts on solid ground.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose Shopify or WooCommerce?

It depends on your needs. Shopify is hosted and simple to manage, with a monthly subscription. WooCommerce is a plugin for WordPress that offers more flexibility and control but requires hosting and maintenance. We recommend the best fit after learning about your products and plans.

Can you set up GST, QST and HST in my store?

Yes. We configure your store’s tax settings for Canadian sales, including GST, QST and HST, based on your registration status. Since tax obligations depend on your specific situation, we recommend confirming the details with your accountant first.

Can my online store be in English and French?

Yes. We build bilingual stores so customers can shop in their preferred language, and we can add other languages such as Spanish or Arabic.

Can you move my existing store to a new platform?

Yes. We can migrate products, categories and content to Shopify or WooCommerce and set up redirects to help protect the search visibility you have already built.
